Now Remote collects no personal data. There is no account, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking.
The app talks only to set-top boxes on your own Wi-Fi network, using the Roku External Control Protocol (HTTP on port 8060). When you scan for devices, the app probes addresses on your local subnet; iOS asks for Local Network permission the first time. No traffic ever leaves your network, and the app makes no internet requests at all.
The only data the app stores is the list of boxes you have saved — their IP address, name and model — kept on your phone and never transmitted anywhere.
No third-party SDKs, analytics tools, crash reporters or advertising networks are included in the app.
